Rachael began showing horses in the early 90's with her mother Laurie Walsh as her instructor.
With a constant supply of horses off of the racetrack, and the obvious experience in working with these fit athletes, they became extremely successful in reschooling the Thoroughbred ex racehorse.
Competeing in the Jr. Hunter and Equitation divisions in the Chicago area when she was 10, Rachael was year end champion in her first year of competition for both divisions on a grey gelding who was a TB off of the racetrack. Towards the end of that year she also rode her mare, My Turnto Dream, another TB whom her parents purchased out of a broodemare band on a neighboring farm, in their first Jumper class. this was the beginning of a lifelong interest in showjumping.
Rachael advanced with "Queenie" (My Turnto Dream) to Grand Prix by age 14, and they made their debut at the Shore Memorial Grand Prix.
Somewhere a video still exists!
